Frank LaMere, longtime Winnebago activist, dies at age 69

Frank LaMere, who helped champion the fight to eliminate alcohol sales in Whiteclay, Nebraska and stood as an advocate for generations of the Winnebago tribe and other residents of the Great Plains, died Sunday after a bout with cancer.

LaMere was 69.
